Podcast 214: Starting Over is, well, about starting over. The podcast, starting on a new, foreign path — about changing careers when you should be thinking about planning for retirement… How quilting and the art of quiltmaking allows for a common thread amongst us all.

In this podcast, I chat with my friends, Anne Jacobson of Light Heart Arts (who I met through the podcast, from Kitty Hawk, NC) and Wendy West of Wendy West Designs (we met through our children, from Gilroy, CA). We attended Quilt Market together and had a rather late night chat about what this idea of Starting Over means to each of us.
Because of the lateness of the evening, we may sound a little slow ; )

Here is a picture of us in our Charming Patchwork Skirts with our friend from Costa Rica, Teresa Vargas, whose quilt shops boast an impressive longarm quilting business, Jardin de la Abuela in San Jose, Costa Rica.

And believe it or not, this is the only picture that I got of us at Market. My friends helped me get the word out about the Charming Patchwork Skirt pattern at Market by modeling for me. It seems that wherever we go, people notice. Today, I was shopping in Trader Joe’s and a woman touched my arm and said, “I love your skirt!”. It happens whenever I wear one, no matter which skirt I’m wearing.

  1. Annie! I haven’t listened to your latest show yet – but YEAH you are back. I am so excited to listen; but will wait for a sewing day while the kids are away so I can enjoy every minute. I learned to quilt listening to your show, Annie, and I now I work for C&T! Time flies!

  2. I’m so glad you are back podcasting again. I hope your health continues to improve. Have a family filled Thanksgiving.

  3. It was great to hear your voice again. I especially enjoyed your topic and guests and encouragement. As a working woman in my 50’s I am seeking and waiting on God’s timing and direction for an expanded quilting carreer.

  4. I enjoyed your podcast so much today. I don’t have an intention of starting over, but I do intend to extend my expertise beyond my own friends and family by doing charitable work for QOV, Alzheimer’s Initiative, Project Linus, etc. I’m also going to extend myself by attending a quilt retreat with ladies whom I don’t know. This is a huge step for me. I listened while I did today’s Indexing and felt that I was among friends.

  5. What a treat to see a new podcast from you pop up on ITunes!! I was all excited, and then I listened to your conversation with Ann and Wendy, and I was even happier. This was really thought-provoking and fun. I’m glad you’re back and doing well.

  6. I’m so excited to see that you are back! I have not yet listened to the whole episode so I’m not sure what your change in direction is, but I’m sure you will just knock it out of the park!!!!
