I’m going to start a study group using the book, The Artist’s Way
beginning on Monday, November 14th.
Details:
It’s a 13 week course in discovering your personal creativity.
I will lead it by online chat via uStream, so regardless of where you live, you can join.
You will need: your own copy of the book (used ones on Amazon are as little as $3.67 plus shipping), a spiral notebook, a pen and a calendar, and a desire to discover your creativity and what might be holding you back.
This is a day-time study group — 8:30 a.m. pacific, and we’ll go for one hour (strictly). I will do an evening group after the day-time group is finished in January.
Why start now when we’re so close to the ‘holidays’? I have been in a personal dearth of creativity for 9+ months and I need to break out of it. I have wanted to do The Artist’s Way and have had my copy of the book for nearly 10 years. By creating a group, I will be committed to completing it. Since we’ll do the group on Mondays, we’ll avoid bumping into Thanksgiving Day — and we’ll take two weeks off around Christmas and continue after New Year’s Day.
Why would you want to join? Well, it’s free, an opportunity to meet up with other quilters who desire more creativity, a thoughtful process to help you realize that your passion is important…
So — if you want to join me, send me an email at annie@simplearts.com. Tell me if you have a uStream account or if you need the information on how to get one. It’s just that simple.

That looks interesting, will have to see if our library has it. My problem lately is time, so that is my goal for the coming year, time to work on my projects and patterns I have been wanting to do.

[...] Annie from Annie’s Quilting Stash will be hosting a study group starting in November using the book, shown. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron is a classic book on creativity. I own it and can wholeheartedly recommend it. Go here for details. [...]
I don’t have u-stream. Pls send instructions. Would love to take the study group
Hi, I’d love to do this with you. I too have had the book for some time and would be glad of a good reason to get going with it. I am in England however and am not sure what the time difference is or how to get/use ustream.
I have had the book for more years than I care to count and would love to do a study group with it. Count me in.
Hi Jan –
I set the time for the group early in my day so those in different time zones would be able to participate too. I think you are 7 or 8 hours ahead of us, so it would be in your early evening. I will send the directions for uStream shortly.
Annie
Will do, Frances!
Your library should have it, Debbie — it’s been a pretty popular book for a long time. You’ll need to renew it twice though to keep it for the duration of the group. The reason I suggested that everyone have their own copy of the book is that you will be tempted to mark, write and highlight in the book. The Amazon prices are the best, unless you can find one for free or close to it. Look in the Library Book store at your library — you may be able to score a copy for a buck or two. I use my Library Book store a lot and have found some treasures there.
I have it coming, so this way I can see it and see if it is something I would like to do. We also have electronic books at out library too, so need to see if they have it there, but there is a copy out ours, so if I have to, I can take it back one day and go back and get it the next;)

I would love to be a part of your study group… My creativity is just coming back after about a 5+ hiatus… (long story with a very happy ending)… BUT… alas I work full time and will have to wait until January for your evening group…
I have been very interested in creativity and I found you by listening to the Everything Creative podcast… and now I am also a listener to your podcast!!
Meg — glad you found me! It’s ok — I promise to do the evening one in January! I’ll check out your blog!
Is that ustream account different then the login to your ustream quilting stash chat?
Oh Annie, I bought this book a few years back and would love to be a part of this study too.
Have you gotten very far with the artists way? I would be interested in joining.
