A winner and another book giveaway

The winner of Country Comforts is… Jocelyn!

Congratulations, Jocelyn — don’t forget to send me your mailing address.

And, if you haven’t left comments for A Year in the Life of Sunbonnet Sue, you have until midnite, tonight to do so —

Now, on to today’s book:

Machine Embroidered Quilting and Applique

by Eileen Roche

This is a Create with Nancy book, which means there is a DVD in the back that is hosted by Nancy Zieman, featuring the book! How cool is that?! (Well, so cool in fact that I have two more Create with Nancy book titles that will be a part of the book review and giveaway in the near future — for real!)

So I have to tell you, this book is a Machine Embroider’s, machine quilter’s and machine appliquer’s DREAM book.

Eileen is considered an Expert in the industry, as she is, also, the Editor of Designs in Machine Embroidery magazine

All of the instructions in the book are accompanied with detailed photos so you can see exactly how Eileen means for you to follow along. There are sidebar comments by Nancy Zieman throughout the book as well.

The projects in the book are simple, cool and do-able.

If you have an embroidery attachment to your sewing machine that is collecting dust because you haven’t taken the time to use it, or have been afraid to get started – this book is for you. Believe me – I have an embroidery attachment and just reviewing this book made me want to set my machine up and get going. Really — what have I been waiting for?

Eileen’s blog is filled all kinds of inspiration! And she does cool Stitching Sisters events.

  1. I loved eileens website and watched the video. Machine embroidery is something I have not known enough about to be interested but I absolutely loved the layering idea with stipple. You find the most fabulous people to highlight. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I visited Ellen’s blog and was quite impressed by her talents and would love the chance to win her book! I also visited your boutique and found your scrabble charms to be adorable! Thanks sew much for the chance to win!!

  3. I am fairly new to machine embroidery and have so much to learn it is sometimes overwhelming. Would love to win this book. I watched the video about it and it looks like a great book.

  4. I have just found your site. Newbie to machine embroidery. Looking forward to learning from you and those who comment here! Thanks for the site!

  5. I went to her site and bookmarked it, I truly need to learn how to use my machine too. I have a creative vision and have not used the embroidery at all. I bought mine and they store closed, so I never go the lessons and have to figure it out myself. I also watched the video, I like how it has simple projects that you can do to learn with.

I received my book today, thank you very much.
I liked the project they showed in the back with the clothespins, fun idea to try first.

  6. Oh, Oh, Oh, I can see that I could really benefit from Eileens book! I went to her website and watched the video. I love that there is also a DVD. I have a brand new Bernina with embroidery capacity, but really have been intimidated to use it much. I can see Eileen’s book would be something I would love to add to my library!

  7. The embroidery machine is a wonderful thing for those of us that are ‘free-motion’ challenged!

  8. You are correct – watching the video does make you want to fire up the machine. Can’t wait to try it.

  9. I just watched the video and would love to have that book! I recently saw Nancy at a local seminar (got a picture taken with her too!) and went to a Stitching Sisters event last year. Both of them were fun, fun, fun! I recently subscribed to Eileen’s blog and am finding a wealth of information there. Can’t wait to see the reviews of the other Create with Nancy books.

  10. This is some of the most innovative machine embroidery I’ve seen yet. You do have a great knack of finding goodies to share Annie. Didn’t find a comment place on her site. BTW as guild librarian any DVDs I win might go to my guild!

  11. Wow! Very cool 🙂 I watched the video, but really got a chuckle out of Eileen’s story about showing up in Cleveland for a show and encountering 8 inches of snow in clogs, lol. Poor thing! Thanks as always Annie for the fun give aways 🙂 I love my embroidery portion of my Bernina 440!

  12. Wow! I would really like to add this book to my collections of Eileens’ products. I have several of her stipple design collections and really enjoy embroidering with them. I have subscribed to Designs in Machine Embroidery for a number of years and there is always something new to make in each issue. Just watched the video and it really does make me want the book.

  13. Just caught up with your blogs and podcasts – most enjoyable Annie! Have been a long time fan of Nancy Zeiman and have some past copies of D. of E. by Eileen. Her new book looks like great fun – I’ve always loved machine embroidery – and antyime one can combine machine embroidery with quilting – it’s even better!

  14. I watched the video and really enjoyed it. The book contains a lot of very useful information for machine embroidery. I would really enjoy having this book. Eileen and Nancy are both very talented.

  15. Annie, I’m so glad your back. You’re like my long lost friend. I was so happy to see all the podcasts pop up last time I synced! Always listening!
