Quilting is such a visual craft and while podcasting allows us to listen about quilting while we’re on the run, videos will help me show you some of the things I could only talk about before.
If you’re wondering, I am still going to blog on this website and do audio-based podcasts when it’s appropriate. I also do want to introduce video-based podcasts (called vidcasts) to my “stash” of tools.
To view the video, you can either download it from the iTunes podcast location or simply click the vidcast link above! Pretty easy, huh?
In this episode, I tell you about projects I’m working on, and share with you a few things I saw at the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara, California.
Here is a list of items I mention. Please browse and visit links to these sites:
Robin’s Eagle Scout Service Project
Gina Halliday’s Threaded Pear Online Store
Tracy Souza’s Plumcute Designs™

Hey Annie this is great! Really nice to ’see’ you and hear you at the same time. It will be fun for you to do demos or take ‘us’ with you when you go to shows of shops…
See you next week in Vermont

Loved your 1st “Vid-cast” Annie! How do you have time to do all that?? I had a chuckle seeing the “ghost” comment fade away at the end – Webguy getting the last word in??

Annie,
LOVED your new vidcast!! Being able to see the patterns and items on your design wall while you talk about them – just wonderful. I am looking forward to signing up for one of your online classes soon. The 3 project class sounds fun and I’ll look for it to be posted. I am about 3 hours away from your NC soon-to-be granddaughter. If you get down near Charlotte I’d be glad to show you around.

Came to do my next pickle road class and super cool, found your new vid-cast! While I will miss the longer chattiness of your podcast, I do love your new format! Great Job – looking forward to many more – I am off to finish my class and go order that clover needle deal. Did it really work well, or can it be a little futzy – I guess I don’t care cause if it even works 1/2 the time, it will work better than my poking around!

Annie:
I’m sure I’ll love your vidcasts. However, I’m disappointed that you’ll apparently be podcasting less. Vidcasts, I have to make special time to watch. Podcasts, I love to listen to while I’m quilting. Please don’t cut back on your podcasts.
GmaTerri
NICE JOB both of you! I like seeing you surrounded by fabric and the tools of your trade. I also like your tip at the end; more tips and tricks, please! Good luck on your upcoming deadline and trip and congratulations on your first vidcast!
Anna in Sweden
Congratulations Annie to getting started with vidcasting! I liked your first vidcast a lot and I hope you will do more of them – but still I also hope for more podcast episodes, as I can listen to them while driving to work. I’ll check your new online classes too!
Deborah
I look forward to every new podcast and your vidcast was great too. Nice to actually see you.
Ann McGorty
Really loved your vidcast, Annie. It adds a whole new dimension to your podcast. I’m excited to learn more about the 3 project class. I’m loving the QuiltMaker101 class and look forward to taking more online classes with you. I heartily recommend this class, quilters. It’s not just for beginner quilters. Try one of Annie’s online classes – I think you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.

Congratulations on moving forward to vidcasts. I’m sure they will be great but alas, I doubt that I will watch. I only keep up with the news through podcasts that I can listen to in the car and my ipod doesn’t do video. I know from experience that watching things on my computer just won’t happen. I joined QNN thinking I will watch shows but I just never get the time to do it. So I hope there will be some podcasts in your future for us “don’t want to move to video” people. Best of luck.

Just To Be Clear…
A few of you — here in the comments and in personal email messages to me — have suggested, for various reasons, that they won’t be watching my new vidcasts. To those people I want to make sure you know: I am still going to offer podcasts!
I understand the power of the spoken word and that many quilters listen to my podcasts as you quilt, travel to work, workout, walk, and during other times during your busy day. You can listen to podcasts where watching just won’t work – or doesn’t work as well.
My podcasts are still happening, so please come back and take part in the new audio episodes coming your way.
With quilting being such a visual craft, it is nice to show my listeners what I am talking about. I have dabbled in video programs for the last two years. Most recently, I started Quilting Stash Classroom: online, video-based, quilting classes. These classes have proven themselves as a viable method to learn quilting technique. While online classes may not be for everyone, quilters without nearby access to quilt shops — and the classes they offer — simply love my online classes.
Video-casting is just another method for presenting helpful hints, ideas, and sometimes techniques that will make your quilting journey more interesting and fun. Putting ideas to video certainly opens my options wider to things that I can share with you. So far, the tremendous support for vidcasts indicates that I should continue offering them to my viewers.
Believe me when I say, I’m not going anywhere that you, my supporters, don’t want to go. It is my mission to bring you all that I can offer. Podcasts and vidcasts are two methods that help me achieve my mission.
Won’t you come along?!

Annie,
I love your vidcast. For the last several weeks I’ve been listening to all your old podcasts trying to catch up. It is so nice to put a face with a voice and there have been times when I’ve wanted to see what you were talking about.

Annie,
I love your new vidcast and all the new things you are doing! Can’t wait to hear more and I know you will make the best Grandma ever!!

Hi Annie, loved your vidcast! (Still love the podcasts too). I love this new element of Quilting Stash! I love seeing you in your studio. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the “gift classes” – sounds fun! I was sorry to hear about your friend Emma – I remember her – the Taxi lady! I really enjoyed that interview, I remember I listened to it a few times o:)
Carole Doyle
I thoroughly enjoyed the vidcast. I had never uploaded a video to my iPod before so I wasn’t too sure about the results, even though I knew I could watch it just fine on my computer. I was pleasantly surprised at the results on the iPod!

Annie,
I have been a listener from the beginning of your podcast. (I think it was the third show when I found you – actually someone told me about your show and that was my introduction to podcasts.) Did you know that your were teaching much more than quilting to your listeners? I have gained so much from listening to your podcasts and keeping up with the web page. The biggest thing you have done for me is to bring me into the world of technology. If it wasn’t for you, I probably still wouldn’t be listening to podcasts or even have an ipod. You would think having had three teenage children (one is now a computer engineer) I would be more on top of all the changes and advances in technology. Anyway congratulations on the new vidcast. I love having a face to put with the voice. I wish you continued success in all your endeavors.
Susan
Love it love it!! Keep up the great work and looking forward to more video casts. I really enjoyed the products you were sharing. Tips, new products, and ideas shown on video is wonderful. Appreciate all you do.
Janis
How nice to see you, Annie! The vidcast is great! Vivian Love is my good friend, too, and fueled my love of quilting many years ago. I hope to take you classes in 2010. Love to you!
Shelly
Hi Annie,
Thanks so much for your reassurance that you will continue to provide podcasts ‘for our listening pleasure’. That was my first thought when I heard about the vid casts – “oh no, what will I listen to when I walk to work”. Your podcasts are a great way to both get some exercise into my day, and take my mind off stressing about work before I start. My favorite podcasts are interviews with all the variety of people who have made a career out of quilting, in all the various ways.
I’ll be sure to watch a vidcast or two, and will definitely keep listening to every podcast. Happy quilting!
Kathi D
Just re-watching this one. I don’t know what I would do without that needle threader! And thanks for the tip about the Hot Wheels cases. Wonder if they have them at Target?
