Hi listeners!
I’m back from wandering for a couple of months, once again. And back to dispel any rumors about Quilting Stash…
In this first of several podcasts about my trip to the East Coast, I want to share with you 3 wonderful quilters that I met in the Baltimore area.
Gyleen Fitzgerald
Gyleen, in her studio
Close-up detail from Gyleens’s book, “Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings”, the Sawblades quilt with orange Shoe Fly blocks. I LOVE this quilt!
The backing fabric of the Sawblades quilt — pieced with lovely fabrics. “Why use cheap and any old fabric for your quilt backs? Those quilt backs are what touches our skin — so use beautiful and quality fabrics for your quilt backs” — the most valuable information, from Gyleen.
A lovely color study quilt in Gyleen’s guest bathroom. Have you thought about using a wood yard stick as a quilt hanger? Cool, huh…

Too Quirky Quilters
Kim Fess and Rebecca Heinze — two talented ladies!

Can you tell these gals have fun and ARE fun?!
Visit the Too Quirky Quilters webiste and view their schedule to see when they’re coming to your area.

I saw these two quirky quilters at an outdoor
quilt show in PA. They were very funny!
Annie, I loved your interview with Gyleen and your talk with the quirky quilters. I felt inspired, amused, and all around great after listening to your show. Keep up the great work and keep introducing us to all those great quilters.
I loved these interviews. Gyleen is such an inspiration and the too quirky quilters made me lol. I listen in the morning to get me started and I have to say they all made my day. They are all so close to me and I did not know anything about any of these fabulous women. I am going to pass this info to the program chair of my quilt guilde. Thanks Annie. I missed you when you were not podcasting.
Laura–
How did I miss meeting you when I was in Baltimore?!
I got to hang out with Mimi Dietrich and look at Baltimore Album quilts with her one of the days I was there.
I love Maryland!!!
What an inspiration Gyleen is! I was so touched by your podcast with her. She truly understands quilting and life and the art of it all. I bet you were in awe of her the whole time. I will listen to this over and over; it really touched my heart and spirit.
Thanks, Annie.
Annie,
Sorry I missed you when you were here. I tried to work out a meeting but my son got married at my home the week you were here. I would have loved to seen you. I have taken classes with Mimi and love her. She is so easy to be with. I also am on the eastern shore and you would love that also. Bayside Quilters is the Easton Guilde I belong to and they are great. I am pushing for you to come to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Smash some crabs hon.
Dear Annie,
I’ve been listening to your show for a while, but I have to say your interview with Gyleen is my favorite. I’ve started my own podcast and she was able to express so many of my core feelings, it was almost like listening to my own brain. This will always be one of the interviews I wished I’d done it! What a wonderful lady, and what a wonderful interview. Thank you!
